Dr. Eva de Rijke works as a labmanager in the soil and environmental chemistry laboratories of the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED) of the University of Amsterdam. She is an analytical chemist who did her PhD at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and worked over 10 years as a scientist/project leader in both government and industrial R&D in the area of food quality and safety, before returning to green forensics and environmental chemistry research at the University of Amsterdam. She has broad (hands-on) knowledge of a variety of analytical techniques such as LC-(HR)MS and GC-(IR)MS, but also spectroscopic techniques such as NMR, UV and fluorescence detection, to determine e.g. taste/odour compounds, environmental contaminants, additives and (veterinary) drugs.
