Forensic Engineering is mainly shaped within the CLHC by the faculty 3mE of Delft University of Technology with Dr. ir. Arjo Loeve playing an important role. The activities are diverse, such as the development of new smart tools for crime scene investigation, research on the biomechanics of injuries in infants caused by shaking and organizing a MOOC (Massive Open On-line Course) in the field of forensic engineering, the analysis of failures of and related to technical systems. A more abstract topic within this theme is the CSI-PEEQ project, a joint project of TU Delft, NFI, HvA, Min J&V and the Dutch Police that focuses on analyzing and improving the workflow of crime scene investigations. If you are more into tangible CSI gadget-like developments, tools such as the FreeRef may be worth checking out for you: https://www.deingenieur.nl/artikel/meten-met-laserstralen.
