We hereby kindly invite you to attend the final Frontiers of Forensic Science (FFS) of the academic year 2021-2022. This session will be unique as we have never focused on a single case and the role of forensic science from the defense perspective. The title ‘Death in Paradise’ refers to an infamous case of a double murder in 2005 on the Caribbean island of Bonaire.

In this session, Carry and Geert-Jan Knoops of Knoops’ Advocaten will explain their efforts including the use of forensic science to overturn a double wrongful conviction. They are assisted by Gerard de Haas and Jan Rooijakker who were involved in the investigation on behalf of the Public Prosecution Office and the Dutch Police. This case illustrates the importance of convincing and reliable evidence in criminal law proceedings and the access of the defense council to forensic investigative methods.

If you want to attend this session, we kindly ask you to register.
As always, attending an FFS session is free of charge and we conclude with a social drink!

Please note that this session can only be attended on-site:
