Work Package 3: Criminology
The Criminology work package investigates the criminal networks and behaviors associated with the production and distribution of illegal drugs. In this work package, the findings from WP1 and WP2 are interpreted. What practices give rise to the trends and profiles observed? How are new raw materials obtained, and why has the production process changed? This unique interaction between criminology and criminalistics works both ways. Tactical information from criminological research on new phenomena can prompt a search in the GC-MS data. Can specific markers be found that confirm the tactical and criminal picture? By applying criminological theories and methods and creating crime scripts based on current screening data, we can gain insight into the social and organizational structures of subversive drug crime. This work package will contribute to developing strategies to effectively dismantle these networks.
